Eugene Cole "Gene" Zubrinsky (born 1941), Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists (FASG), of Ojai, California, is very highly regarded among genealogists and family historians for the exceptional excellence of his research and writing on colonial southern New England families. After retiring from teaching in 1987, he pursued his interest in genealogical studies, publishing his first professional grade article in 1992, and compiling a highly detailed account of his Russian-Jewish paternal ancestry. In 2008, he compiled a series of (twelve sketches ) on the two primary colonial immigrant Carpenter families of Rehoboth and Providence which form the definitive source for accurate information about those families. He was elected a Fellow of the American Society of Genealogists in 2011, an honor limited to 50 living persons.〔 He has published over 30 scholarly articles〔 in premier venues such as the New England Historic Genealogical Society's flagship quarterly publication the ''The New England Historical and Genealogical Register'' and the ''(The American Genealogist )'', founded by Donald Lines Jacobus.
